Direct Services:Staff provide direct services to residents by implementing the support plan created by the resident’s team (Direct Care Coordinator, Case Manager, Guardian, Day Program staff).
Program Planning:Staff may assist in the implementation of individual program plans by appropriately communicating with the DC/ADC and offering constructive feedback during staff meetings.
Documentation:Staff are responsible for documenting, participating in, and following through with all individual programming. Accurate documentation is essential for demonstrating progress toward each individual’s outcomes and needs.
Daily Progress:Staff gather and record information about resident progress on a daily basis. This is an important part of showing measurable outcomes for the individuals served.
Areas of Support: DSPs must be willing to participate in all aspects of their role. Staff provide training, counseling, and assistance to residents in the following areas:
Staff must follow through with each resident’s established routines.
Staff must always ensure that resident rights are protected and observed.
All staff meetings and scheduled trainings are mandatory. Participation is required to maintain employment.
Staff must create and maintain a homelike, nurturing environment. This is the residents’ home, not the staff’s, and must be respected as such.
Staff are responsible for protecting the health, safety, and overall well-being of each resident.
Staff must follow all policies and procedures as outlined in training.
Staff are responsible to report to the Designated or Assistant Designated Coordinator. Concerns regarding individuals or staff should be brought to the DC respectfully.
Staff are accountable for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly home environment.
Staff must follow any assigned chore list to assist in keeping the home clean.
Staff are expected to work together as a team. This is a place of employment, and all individuals must be treated with respect and professionalism.
Scheduling is based primarily on the needs of the homes and residents. While Eagles Wing makes efforts to accommodate staff schedules, the needs of the residents come first.
Each home is a confidential environment. Matters concerning residents or employees must not be shared outside the home. Questions or concerns should be directed only to the DC of the home.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Must obtain and maintain active First Aid and CPR certification and must obtain crisis de-escalation or therapeutic intervention training when scheduled
The Direct Support Professional position will typically work in a program location with occasional work outdoors and in the community.
Frequent sitting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
Occasional lifting of 50 lbs.
Occasional bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, standing, crawling, reaching, walking, driving, traveling, kneeling and crouching.
Knowledge: Develop and maintain a strong understanding of state and federal regulations, person-centered philosophy, client service needs, medication administration protocols, emergency and disaster response procedures, mandated reporting requirements, and positive behavior support practices.
Skills: Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively. Exercise critical thinking abilities, paired with basic written and verbal communication skills, active listening, and basic reading comprehension. Success in this role requires effective interpersonal skills, teamwork, and problem-solving.
