Job summary

Addus HomeCare is hiring a Direct Support Professional to help seniors and people with disabilities live independently at home. This entry-level role offers flexible hours, with pay options including daily and weekly payouts.

You’ll follow care plans, support daily activities, and report changes in condition, contributing to meaningful client outcomes. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass a background check.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Follow a care plan and report on completed tasks.
• Observe and report changes in member’s condition.
• Assist with self-administration of medications (no administering).
• Transport member to appointments and errands.
• Assist with home tasks: cleaning, laundry, meal prep.
• Help with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.).

DSP Responsibilities

• Follow a care plan for the member and report on completed tasks
• Observe and report any changes in member's condition
• Assist member with the self-administration of medications (no administering or measuring)
• Transport member to appointments, daily errands, and other locations as necessary
• Support routine house cleaning, laundry, and assist with meal preparation
• Assist people with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.)

DSP Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, and one year of in-home care services experience
• Able to pass a criminal background check
• Reliable transportation, required for member transportation. Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and follow written/verbal instructions
• Good communication skills
• Reliable, energetic, self-motivated and well-organized
• Comfortable using an electronic device
