Job summary

Appone is seeking caregivers for LifeSkills Unlimited to support individuals with intellectual disabilities in their homes in North Las Vegas. Tasks include teaching daily living skills, personal care, safety, and assisting with ISP plans and community activities.

The role requires valid Nevada driver's license, ability to lift, CPR/First Aid, flexible weekend shifts, and reliable transportation. Training and compliance with state regulations are provided.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate clearly with clients and team members.
• Reading and understanding English instructions and notes.
• Basic math skills for money handling and records.

Responsibilities

• Teach and assist in daily living skills and personal care.
• Support ISP plans, chores, and community activities.
• Monitor health, appearance, and behavior; follow medical orders.
• Complete required documentation and training per policy.
• Perform safety and sanitation tasks in home settings.

Job description

LifeSkills Unlimited supports individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and related disorders in their homes or apartments to maintain activities of daily living. To ensure optimal health and safety, teach individuals to be as independent as possible, and to maintain their homes to ensure a clean, and safe environment.

• Teach and assist in daily living skills, which may include personal hygiene, bathroom duties, shaving, brushing teeth, bathing/showering, shampooing, and dressing appropriately for the weather and activities.
• Support individual’s ISP plan and daily activities, household chores, money management, and out in community activities.
• Monitor for changes in their health, appearance, and behavior
• Follow physician’s orders regarding, medication and dietary needs.
• Complete documentation as necessary, to meet LifeSkills, Federal, and State regulatory requirements.
• Complete required, and ongoing training requirements with LifeSkills and State required timeframes.
• Behavior should be professional at all times. Treating everyone with respect and dignity
• Report to work on time, ready to work assigned shift
• Ability to communicate with others
• Complete all shift duties and any tasks assigned by management to fill the needs of the Individuals that we serve.

Additional Job Responsibilities

• May transport in agency vehicles to and from work, errands, doctor visits, recreational activities, and shopping
• Conducting required fire and emergency drills

Position Requirements

Physical Requirements

• Agility to work in a residential setting
• Must be physically able to perform CPR and/or First Aid
• May exert force between 10 and 100lbs.ie assisting with
  • Bed to floor/wheelchair
  • Floor/wheelchair to bed
  • In and out of shower/bath
  • Into and out of vehicles
• Assisting in bathing and showering
• Changing adult depends
• Housecleaning duties, e.g., laundry, vacuuming, cleaning showers, tubs, dishes, taking out garbage
• Preparing meals
• Pushing/pulling e.g. wheelchairs
• Ability to carry groceries from vehicle to house
• Balancing, stooping, kneeling, standing, sitting, and walking

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must have a valid Nevada Driver License or Nevada ID
• Clean DMV history, and insurable to drive agency vehicles
• Ability to work Saturday and Sunday
• Must have a “Negative” pre-employment drug screen result
• Basic Math Skills
• Read, write and understand English
• Clean Criminal Background

• Proof of unexpired auto insurance and registration
