Helen Keller Services in Wantagh, NY is seeking a part-time Direct Support Professional to empower residents in our Residential program. You will supervise individuals, assist with daily living skills, and maintain accurate records to support their well-being.

Available shifts include Tue-Thu 3:00 PM–11:00 PM and Sat/Sun 9:00 AM–3:00 PM or 3:00 PM–11:00 PM. Requirements: High School Diploma or GED; NYS Driver's License; experience with the developmentally disabled; AMAP/CPR preferred; SCIP-R

Competenze

• Experience working with the developmentally disabled.

• Saturday & Sunday, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM

SUMMARY

The goal of the Direct Support Professional is to empower and direct our individuals in the Residence program, assist with record keeping, and perform duties necessary for the overall care and well-being of our individuals in this program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise and positively interact with the individuals following all habilitation plans.
• Work with individuals on their daily living skills.
• Provide individuals with community integration opportunities.
• Direct individuals in their personal routine; give individuals positive reinforcement as appropriate.
• Maintain complete and accurate daily records and communication logs
• Maintain the order, safety, and cleanliness of the classroom including the outdoor areas.
• Attend staff meetings and/or trainings that are required.
• Provide medical oversight including medication administration under the supervision of the nursing staff.
• Transport individuals to a day program (to and from)
• Interact with parents and professionals from outside Agencies.
• Other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Experience working with the developmentally disabled

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

• Valid NYS Driver's License (Required)
• AMAP Certification (Preferred)
• CPR Certification (Preferred)

SCIP-R Certification (Preferred)

PAY RANGE

$18.00 to $22.00 per hour
