Job summary

Legacy Treatment Services is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in New Jersey to build trusting relationships with adolescents in a residential setting. The role emphasizes mentoring youth, supporting daily activities, and promoting life skills in a supportive team environment.

You will provide crisis de-escalation, lead recreational activities, and serve as a positive role model while meeting safety and documentation requirements. Weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or High School Diploma/GED plus three years of experience working with children or adolescents.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Must-pass CHRI background checks and clearance requirements.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships and meaningful connections with adolescents.
• Mentor and encourage youth through daily challenges while promoting positive decision-making.
• Support community integration by accompanying adolescents to school activities, appointments, and outings.
• Teach and reinforce essential life skills including cooking, laundry, cleaning, and personal responsibility.
• Use positive reinforcement and crisis de-escalation techniques.
• Participate in recreational activities and serve as a positive role model.

Candidates must be able to work at least one weekend shift each week.Salary Range: $16.00 – $18.00 / hour - based on work experience and/or education.
