Direct Support Professional
Provide skilled support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting, helping them achieve independent living and community participation.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
- Educate clients on personal hygiene, cooking, grocery shopping, cleaning, and other activities of daily living.
- Explore community businesses and social activities, supporting employment, household, and personal goals.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and advocate for clients’ services and goals.
- Assist with dressing, bathing, personal hygiene, house cleaning, laundry, medication administration, and basic health care (temperature, pulse, BP).
- Help clients purchase groceries, prepare meals, and maintain personal supplies and inventory.
- Respond to emergencies and maintain safety protocols.
- Document observations and progress for each client, following center and legal requirements.
- Support clients’ participation in meaningful vocational, domestic, and leisure activities.
- Assist in orienting and training new employees as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- High‑school diploma or equivalent.
- Pass required training: CPR, First Aid, Medication Administration (16‑hour course), MANDT System Workshop (10‑hour course), OSHA health and safety, Abuse & Neglect, Electronic Documentation.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; ability to obtain a class E license if required for Arc vehicles.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform required tasks.
- Strong communication skills, judgment, discretion, and crisis‑intervention knowledge.
- Willingness to uphold the Arc of the Ozarks mission, values, and confidentiality standards.
