RHA Health Services, LLC is hiring a Direct Support Professional in North Carolina. You will support individuals with disabilities and/or mental health and substance use challenges in the community, helping identify needs and implementing services per each person’s Centered Plan.

The role emphasizes person-centered outcomes, advocacy, and community engagement, including transportation, daily living support, and protecting confidentiality.

Formación

• Accompany people to work, the movies, concerts, shopping, and other community outings.
• Teach independent living skills.
• Provide transportation to appointments.
• Foster positive relationships within the community.
• Promote decision-making about living, work, and social relationships.
• Assist with personal care and bathing, help around the home (laundry, cleaning, and decorating).
• Document the care you provide.
• Understand diverse challenges of those living with disabilities and use effective advocacy strategies.
• Connect people with resources to further explore opportunities in their career, education, volunteerism, etc.
• Promote effective communication.
• Assist in medication administration where state law allows.
• Protect confidentiality.

Provides support for individuals and’or groups of persons with disabilities in the community. Assists the person(s) receiving services in identifying and communicating his or her requests and needs for services and supports. Implements services and supports to address the person’s goals and desired outcomes as identified through each person’s Centered Plan. Seek to understand the individuals in the context of their personal history, their social and family networks, and their hopes and dreams for the future. Relies on direction and supervision to accomplish the job.

Rate of Pay: $15.00/hour

REPORTS TO:

Group Home Supervisor

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Pre-employment screening:

• Complete criminal background
• Name checked in the registries. (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities)
• Drug testing
• Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements.
• Proof of employment history or references (if required)
• Positions that require driving Proof of driver’s license, driver’s insurance, and vehicle, IF required for providing transportation for individuals.
