Job summary

Burton Center For Disabilities & Special Needs in Greenwood, SC is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide quality care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will help individuals build independence, participate in community activities, and stay safe and healthy in daily life.

The role is full-time, 1st shift (Monday - Friday). Responsibilities include assisting with daily living, health and safety, documentation in Therap system, meal

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or ability to pass a competency assessment.
• Valid South Carolina Driver's License.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with adults with varying support needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living and self-help skills per ISP or BSP.
• Support individualized behavior plans and personal goals.
• Complete monthly progress reports and maintain logs.
• Document data in Therap system or approved methods.
• Prepare meals per meal plans and dietary guidelines.
• Transport individuals to programs, appointments, and activities.
• Provide supervision and advocate for safety and well-being.
• Support participation in recreational and social activities.
• Maintain a clean, safe home or facility environment.
• Provide one-on-one support for feeding, toileting, mobility, and care.
• Attend required Burton Center trainings and orientations.
• Follow agency, state, and federal policies and procedures.

Position Summary

In this role, you will help individuals build independence, achieve personal goals, and participate fully in their communities while ensuring their health, safety, and well-being.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living and self-help skills, including personal hygiene, toileting, feeding, dressing, and medication administration as outlined in the Individual Support Plan (ISP) or Behavior Support Plan (BSP).
• Understand, implement, and support individualized behavior plans and personal goals.
• Monitor individual progress and complete monthly progress reports related to established objectives and outcomes.
• Maintain accurate communication logs and complete required data entry and documentation using an online Therap system or other approved methods.
• Prepare nutritious meals according to approved meal plans and dietary guidelines.
• Transport individuals to day programs, appointments, community outings, and other scheduled activities.
• Provide continuous supervision and advocacy to ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of individuals served.
• Support individuals during recreational, social, and extracurricular activities.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized home or facility environment.
• Provide one-on-one support when required, including assistance with feeding, toileting, mobility, and other personal care needs.
• Attend all required Burton Center orientations, trainings, workshops, and in-service programs to enhance job knowledge and performance.
• Follow all agency, state, and federal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to frequently lift up to 25 pounds.
