Job summary

We Speak for Ourselves in Georgia seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) to provide direct care and assist in daily activities for clients at the Day Program. You will help plan and implement activities, monitor progress, and maintain accurate documentation with input from the care team.

The role emphasizes client development, teamwork, and adherence to care plans, with responsibilities for transportation support and collaboration with families and staff.

  • Minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

  • Support social, emotional, and physical development of all clients.
  • Coordinate with Support Coordinator, Residential Training Specialist, other staff and family members.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide Training and Support to all clients at the Day Program. Assist in development of volunteer, vocational, and group activities
  • Responsible for case notes, goal tracking, attendance, communication logs and other needed documentation
  • Record and file written documentation of progress and case notes as outlined in the Individual Support Plan. Documentation of Medical Administration Sheets (MAR), Goal Tracking, Attendance and other required written work.
  • Oversight of facilities clean up and organization of chore chart planning.
  • Provide support for social, emotional, and physical development of all clients.
  • Work closely and coordinate with other support persons including, but not limited to Support Coordinator, Residential Training Specialist, other staff and family members.
  • Attend and participate in Agency Meetings and other training opportunities.
  • Communicate with coworkers and other staff regularly on client progress, issues and concerns as they arise.
  • Provide transportation in agency or personal vehicle as needed (including wheelchair lift van)
  • Other Duties may be assigned.

  • The ability to organize, mediate, to be creative, multitask, empathetic, and willing to learn. This includes the development of plans, completion of assessments and daily documentation, behavior modification strategies, medical and psychological aspects of disabilities, able to use the English language, and communicate clearly. Must be able to manage time effectively, to work alone and as a team member. Must have a Georgia State Driver’s License and insured privately owned vehicle.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.)
  • High School/GED, Some College
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
