Direct Support Professional# Direct Support ProfessionalHot JobBismarck, ND 58501## OverviewSalary Range$17.00 - $20.00 Hourly## DescriptionThis position is responsible for providing direct support, positive direction, and assistance to individuals supported in accordance with program policies and procedures and personal outcome measures.A DSP is responsible to all individuals supported, with other activities and functions flowing from this. DSP’s support individuals’ emotional, physical, and personal well-being and encourage growth while being attentive to reducing risk of harm. DSP’s assist individuals with leading self-directed lives and develop a spirit of partnership with individuals supported, other professionals, and the community. DSP’s safeguard and respect confidentiality, privacy, and promote and practice justice and equity for individuals supported and the community. DSP’s affirm human and civil rights and individual’s responsibilities, respect human dignity and the uniqueness and value of individuals supported, and help others understand their value. DSP’s assist individuals with developing and maintaining relationships, directing the course of their own lives, and advocate with individuals for justice, inclusion, and full community participation. DSP’s primary responsibility is to ensure that active treatment is consistently provided to the individuals in accordance with the Overall Service Plans. This position also involves completing household duties to maintain a safe and clean environment.**Responsibilities** • Provide supports to individuals by assisting in the development and implementation of all support plans, including spiritual life supports, assisting individuals in achieving their personal goals and desires, providing interaction and choices for activities that support a meaningful day, and supporting individuals to be independent in activities of daily living. • Assist with information gathering for Personal Outcome Measures, and other assessments. • Assist individuals with maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly home by following safety and infection control procedures; educates individuals about maintaining homes. • Assist and is knowledgeable of emergency procedures outlined for individuals supported and our Agency. • Maintain and expand skills and knowledge relevant to providing high quality support and services. Obtains and maintains all required certifications and training and applies the information to support individuals served. • Maintain open communication and cooperative work effort with other staff to assure quality and continuity of support to individuals served, along with participating in a team approach model for problem solving. • Respect and maintains confidentiality at all times, including when working across Enable, Inc. environments. • Request assistance and direction when faced with unfamiliar or unusual circumstances. • Adhere to Enable, Inc.’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values while empowering each individual to direct their own life choices. • Report and/or documents routine and unusual events including utilization of THERAP and completing daily T-logs, GER’s, Med Variances, and seizure reports etc. in a concise, understandable, and legible manner. • Adhere to Enable’s medication administration policy and procedures. Medications will be administered by DSP’s using Enable’s med passer/med checker protocol. • Assist individuals with fiscal management while safeguarding their funds. This may include completing ledgers, reconciling accounts and assisting individuals with spending choices. • Ensure that individuals exercise their rights and that rights are not restricted without due process, ensure individuals are treated with dignity and respect. • Accept additional assignments requested when needs arise, including working at locations other than primary location(s). • Serve as a role model and leader to newer staff, provides support and guidance to all co-workers. • Perform other duties as assigned.## Qualifications• Must be 18 years of age or older. • Valid driver’s license and good driving record as defined by Enable, Inc.’s policy. Some positions may require access to vehicle in sound operating condition and proof of current auto insurance.• Ability and willingness to successfully complete and apply all training provided. Additional certifications may be required by regulations. • Clear background checks as defined by regulations and policies. • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds. Ability to do daily standing, bending, and lifting. Must be able to stand for 8 hours at a time. • Interest in assisting individuals to achieve personal outcomes and person-centered support. • Must possess good verbal, reading, and written communication in English; basic math skills; and basic computer skills. • Must have knowledge and skills necessary to perform ordinary household functions, cooking, cleaning, etc. • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others, flexibility with respect to hrs. of work and changing conditions, be of good moral character, have an interest in the welfare of the individuals supported, have training and/or interest in the field of developmental disabilities, and have a willingness/ability to communicate with and relate to individuals supported, parents, guardians, fellow-staff, representatives of community agencies, and company management.
