Job summary

Beacon Specialized Living Services is hiring Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health challenges in a supportive home environment. You will help residents live independently and reach personal goals through person-centered plans and daily activities.

No prior experience is required; Beacon provides on-the-job training, CPR and de-escalation training, and opportunities for advancement through the LEAP program.

Qualifications

• Compassionate and patient demeanor when working with individuals who have mental illness and co-occurring disorders.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Must be 18 years or older and have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and care following person-centered and behavior plans.
• Create a safe environment where residents feel respected and their rights upheld.
• Assist with meal prep, housekeeping, and daily living activities.
• Transport individuals to appointments and advocate on their behalf.
• Administer medications as prescribed.
