Job summary

Gesher Human Services in Detroit, MI is seeking a Direct Support Professional Specialist/CI to join our Community Inclusion team. This full-time role blends direct participant support with administrative coordination to keep programs running smoothly and responsive to families and partners.

You will help with schedules, documentation, compliance tracking, and communicating with navigators, case managers, and guardians, ensuring accurate records and reliable staffing.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalency required, two-years of college preferred.
• Other: 21+ years of age; 3-4 years related work experience with individuals with disabilities preferred.
• Criminal background must meet funding source requirements; reliable transportation and valid Michigan driver's license.
• CPR, First Aid and Recipient Rights trainings required or completed.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and supervise activities promoting healthy, active, socially integrated lifestyles for people with disabilities in employment, volunteer, recreation and facility settings.
• Assist participants with personal care, hygiene and grooming including physical assistance in transferring and mobility.
• Provide support and training based on goals in service plans.
• Supervise and maintain the safety of participants.
• Transport participants using Agency van or own vehicle.
• Complete daily reports and respond to email using Agency computers.
• Develop and distribute staff and participant schedules.
• Monitor and track program participant attendance and assigned staff documentation.
• Communicate with external agencies, families, guardians, program participants and internal departments by phone or email for required documents.
• Maintain site info sheets, equipment and program supply inventory.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Serve on Agency committee(s) as appointed.
