Job summary

Easterseals Capital Region & Eastern Connecticut, Inc. seeks a Direct Support Associate I in East Hartford, CT, full-time.

You will provide direct care, supervision, and transportation for adults with developmental disabilities, supporting pre-employment training and skill-building at the center and in the community. Responsibilities include case management assistance, documentation, and ensuring safety and quality in all activities.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in human services or equivalent experience in human services
• One year of experience with individuals with disabilities, or two years in a human service agency
• Active driver’s license and clean driving record
• First Aid & CPR and Physical Management certifications
• Understanding of Developmental Disabilities and Abuse & Neglect
• Ability to supervise and document activities and outcomes
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Comfort with data tracking and computer systems

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, personal support, training, and supervision to program participants.
• Transport participants to home, community sites, and outings.
• Create meaningful center and community activities engaging participants.
• Deliver pre-employment and skill-building activities at center and in the community.
• Document daily activities, goals, and time sheets per protocols.
• Ensure participant safety at all locations and during transportation.
• Assist Case Coordinator with goals and meeting participation.
• Meet required trainings and certifications.
