Job summary

Abraxas Youth & Family Services in Woodridge, IL is seeking a Direct Support Technician on a part-time, weekend-only schedule. Join a compassionate team focused on helping individuals achieve independence and improve lives through structured support and advocacy.

You will assist with safety, provide motivational guidance, coordinate transportation, and contribute to treatment plans, while upholding dignity and respect for clients and families in recovery settings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Must have a valid Driver's License.
• TB and drug testing required as part of pre-employment screening.
• Must pass federal and state background checks.
• Ability to work with computers and department software.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of clients in a substance abuse treatment program.
• Provide motivational and educational support to help clients meet therapeutic goals.
• Schedule and coordinate client transportation and assist with recreational event planning.
• Support treatment plans by reporting observations and contributing to therapy decisions.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

As a Direct Support Technician, you are responsible for:

• Monitoring, observing, and ensuring the safety and well-being of clients in a substance abuse treatment program
• Providing motivational and educational support and guidance to assist clients in meeting therapeutic goals
• Scheduling and coordinating client transportation and assisting with planning client recreational events
• Supporting treatment plans by reporting client observations and contributing to decisions concerning therapy, discipline and privileges
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or GED

Other Qualifications:

• At least twenty-one (21) years of age
• Must have a valid Driver's License
• Physical exam that includes TB and drug testing.
• Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
• Satisfactory completion of background screening and applicable pre-employment checks, including but not limited to employment and/or personal reference and driving records.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
