Overview

Position: Direct Care Worker (DCW)

Location: Royal Oak, MI

Shifts Available: Mornings, Afternoons, Midnights, & Weekends

Job Type: Full-time & Part-time

Reports To: Home Manager

Position Summary: MORC, WCLS, &/or TTI training is required and can be provided.

Responsibilities

• The position is responsible for providing a safe, secure, and healthy environment for residents while working towards goals in person-centered plans.
• Addresses the basic health, rights, privileges, and safety for all residents.
• Interacts closely with residents and provides direct care as needed.
• Works with and assists each resident with their aim to achieve individual goals.
• Transports residents to outings in the community, appointments, etc.
• Sets positive examples for residents at all times.
• Adheres to the person-centered plans, and behavior plans as written for each resident.
• Provides opportunities throughout the day to help residents meet their goals.
• Provides quality of care and a safe and healthy setting free from harm while upholding the rights of all residents.
• Protects all residents from abuse and/or neglect and immediately reports any occurrence to appropriate entities.
• Maintains and protects the confidentiality of all residents.
• Follows and upholds all house guidelines.
• Cooks meals as necessary for residents based upon food specifications and diets.
• Completes required documentation before the end of shift, including, but not limited to progress notes, miscellaneous notes, daily support logs, event reports, incident reports, LOA forms, resident inventories, etc.
• Responsible for cleanliness of the home site according to the assignment chart. (Inspection ready at all times.)
• Administers medications as needed.
• Hand-off communication to next shift staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
