Job summary

Devereux Arizona’s Residential Treatment Center in Scottsdale seeks Direct Care Professionals to provide direct supervision and support for youth aged 7 to 17 in a 24-hour, therapeutic setting.

You will assist with daily schedules, help with mental health needs, manage behaviors, de-escalate crises, implement treatment plans, and support enrichment activities, including art, music, and sports. Benefits and shift differentials apply.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • HS Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or relevant field preferred.
  • Six (6) weeks of behavioral health work experience required.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in psychology/sociology/social work/education or related field OR 12 years of related experience.
  • Previous experience working with individuals under 21 with behavioral health challenges is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and assist the daily schedule for campus individuals.
  • Help individuals with their mental health, manage behaviors and emotional needs, and de-escalate crisis situations.
  • Implement treatment plans, provide personal care, and assist with transport as needed.
  • Document progress for daily, weekly, and monthly logs and attend weekly clinical supervision meetings.
  • Assist with planning enrichment activities like art, music, culinary arts, and sports.

Description

Devereux Arizona’s Residential Treatment Center (RTC) provides intensive, 24-hour support for youth aged 7 to 17, who are experiencing serious emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. In a structured, therapeutic environment, we combine clinical expertise with compassionate, trauma-informed care to help youth heal, grow and build a brighter future. The RTC features dormitories, an accredited K-12 school, food services, 24/7 on-site nursing, and specialized therapy and clinical services.

Direct Care Professionals (DCP) provide direct supervision and assist the day-to-day schedule for campus individuals. Direct support duties include: helping individuals with their mental health, managing behaviors and emotional needs, de-escalating crisis situations, treatment plan implementation, personal care (bathing, dressing), medication management, transport, and fostering social skills. Other duties include documenting progress for daily, weekly, and monthly logs, adhering to the activity schedule, and attending weekly clinical supervision meetings. Direct care staff also assist with the planning and implementation of enrichment activities such as art projects, music groups, culinary arts, various athletics (basketball, soccer, swimming), and adult-transition prep!

Pay Range: $20 - $22 / hr

Shift Differentials: $1/hr. 3:00pm-11:00pm and $2/hr. 11:00pm-7:00am, 7 days/wk.

Various Full Time Scheduling Options; ability to work afternoons/nights and weekends needed

Qualifications
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • HS Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or relevant field preferred
  • Six (6) weeks of behavioral health work experience required
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in the areas of psychology, sociology, social work, education or other related field OR 12 years of related experience
  • Previous experience preferred (not required) working with individuals under 21 with psychological, emotional and behavioral disorders, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, and/or autism spectrum disorders

OTHER:

  • Must be available to attend two (2) weeks of new hire orientation (paid, Mon-Fri 8:30am-5pm) plus 2-3 weeks of on the job training
  • Drug test within 24hrs of offer w/ negative results
