Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living is seeking a Dining Services Associate to assist the Dining Services Director in delivering a signature dining program for our residents. You will provide friendly, responsive service and help create a memorable dining experience that reflects the company values.

The role requires physical stamina to stand, lift, and move throughout shifts, as well as readiness to work varied shifts including weekends.

Qualifications

• Certification in the Food Handlers Course or equivalent.
• Experience in food service.
• Able to read and write English.
• Willingness and ability to learn new tasks.
• Must be available to work varied shifts and weekends.
• Ability to lift heavy objects; stand and walk short distances; tolerate heat from the kitchen.
• Must be free of communicable diseases.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals to residents in a safe sanitary manner, in accordance with Public Health Regulations and Sanitation Code.
• Be familiar with HACCP and WHMIS.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment with proper handwashing and routine cleaning.
• Serve attractive, nutritious meals in a respectful manner, mindful of residents' needs.
• Follow safe usage of equipment and clean/sanitize equipment per schedules.
• Prepare the dining rooms daily: set tables, pour beverages, clear and clean dishes.
• Receive stock and store it according to procedures.
• Follow cleaning procedures when mechanical equipment is not available (e.g., power failure).
• Perform other duties as directed by the Dining Services Director.
• Other duties as assigned.

Pay rate: $18 per hour.

• Full or Part-time 7am to 3pm. Every other weekend is required.
• Full or Part-time 3pm to 8pm. Every other weekend is required.

The Dining Services Associate assists the Dining Services Director in the creation and execution of the signature dining services program at the community. He or she provides friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all of our residents. Each Dining Services Associates' primary objective is to exhibit the core values of Commonwealth Senior Living and provide a memorable dining experience for the residents.

Qualifications

• Certification in the Food Handlers Course or equivalent
• Previous experience in the food service industry.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Willingness and ability to learn new tasks
• Must be available to work varied shifts and weekends.
• Ability to lift heavy objects; stand and walk short distances throughout the day. Ability to tolerate heat from the kitchen.
• Must be free of communicable diseases.

Areas of Primary Responsibility

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals to our residents in a safe sanitary manner in accordance with Public Health Regulations, and in compliance with Sanitation Code.
• Be familiar with Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point {HACCP}, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System {WHMIS}.
• Responsible for ensuring a clean, safe working environment and maintaining this responsibility by safe work habits, using correct hand washing techniques and routine cleaning.
• Serve attractive, nutritious meals in a pleasant, respectful manner, mindful of the special needs of the residents.
• Practice safe usage of all equipment within the department and the ability to clean, sanitize and maintain the equipment as outlined in the cleaning schedules.
• Prepare the dining rooms daily: set tables, pour beverages, clear and clean dishes.
• Upon receiving stock, put it away following the procedures as required.
• Follow cleaning procedures when mechanical equipment is not available {ex: power failure}.
• Performs other duties as directed by the Dining Services Director.
