Job summary

Western States Lodging & Management is seeking a Dining Room Server to create welcoming dining experiences for our residents in Taylorsville, UT. You will greet residents, assist with seating, take orders, and serve meals with a polished, attentive approach.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 0–1 year of experience, and a valid food handler certification as required. Candidates should be patient, friendly, and able to work respectfully with older adults in a fast-paced

Qualifications

  • Food handler certification or ServeSafe as required by state
  • Strong customer service skills and a friendly demeanor
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and coworkers

Responsibilities

  • Greet residents and guests with a friendly, positive attitude
  • Assist with seating and provide menus
  • Take orders and serve meals in a polished, attentive manner
  • Ensure residents are satisfied with food and service
  • Set, clear, and reset tables promptly
  • Maintain dining room cleanliness and stock supplies
  • Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures
  • Provide professional communication with residents and staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director

What You’ll Do
  • Welcome residents and guests into the dining room with a friendly, positive attitude.
  • Assist residents and guests with seating and provide menus.
  • Take resident food orders and serve meals in a polished, attentive manner.
  • Communicate with residents throughout their dining experience to ensure they are satisfied with their food and service.
  • Set, clear, and reset dining tables promptly and efficiently.
  • Refill beverages and ensure condiments and other dining supplies are stocked.
  • Maintain the appearance, cleanliness, and organization of the dining room.
  • Wipe down tables, chairs, and other dining surfaces as needed.
  • Follow all company food-handling, safety, sanitation, infection control, and loss-prevention procedures.
  • Maintain required hygiene and appearance standards.
  • Communicate positively and professionally with residents, families, supervisors, and coworkers.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the Food Service Director.
What Makes You Successful
  • High school diploma or equivalent, including those currently working toward completion.
  • 0–1 year of experience; previous dining or customer service experience is helpful but not required.
  • Valid Food Handler’s Permit or ServeSafe Certification in the state you are applying in, as required by the state.
  • Basic customer service skills and a pleasant, welcoming personality.
  • Patience and willingness to work with and care for older adults and individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, structured environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly with table setup, cleanliness, and food service.
  • Ability to follow instructions, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and positively with residents, families, supervisors, and coworkers.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent walking and standing throughout the shift.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, sit, stand, and reach.
  • Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 50 pounds using proper body mechanics and lifting techniques.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
