Job summary

Dial is seeking a Dining Room Server to join the team in Iowa City. The role supports serving meals and beverages, bussing tables, and maintaining a clean dining area while engaging with residents and ensuring a positive dining experience.

Responsibilities include taking orders, using the POS system, and coordinating with kitchen staff to meet resident preferences. Applicants should be 16 or older and able to stand and move for several hours per shift.

Qualifications

  • Patience and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Ability to operate basic kitchen appliances or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move for 3–3.75 hours per shift.

  • Serve residents meals, take orders, and assist throughout the dining experience.
  • Take all orders and close out orders in the POS system.
  • Provide customer service to residents to maintain high satisfaction.
  • Set and reset tables for meals.
  • Inform residents of today’s menu and options.
  • Prepare beverages and serve drinks as requested.
  • Clear and bus tables after meals and maintain dining room cleanliness.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information.

Position Overview

The position will assist with serving meals and beverages, bussing tables and cleaning the dining area.

  • Serve residents meals, take orders, and assist residents throughout all aspects of the dining experience.
  • Take all orders and close out orders within the Dial designated point of sale system.
  • Provide customer service to residents to allow high level of resident satisfaction while serving meals.
  • Set tables for upcoming meals and reset for the following meal.
  • Inform residents what foods are available on the day’s menu.
  • Address residents by name and their food beverage likes and dislikes.
  • Prepare beverages before meals and serve beverage of choice to each resident.
  • Keep water glasses and coffee cups and/or carafes filled.
  • Clear tables, as needed, throughout meal and bus tables after the meal is finished.
  • Vacuum carpet in the dining room after each meal.
  • Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, community operations and personnel.
  • Report any on-the-job injuries to the supervisor before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience and Other Requirements

  • Must be age 16 or older

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language
  • Promote teamwork in providing services to residents.
  • Patience and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Operation of basic kitchen appliances or willingness to learn.
  • Working 3-3.75 hours per shift standing, walking, and moving about without the need to sit down
