Job summary

Holly Hall Retirement Community is seeking a Dining Room Server to provide assistance and service in all food functions following current federal, state, and local guidelines.

You will review menus, assist cooks with meal prep, and ensure proper diets are served. The role involves setting up dining areas, delivering meals, and maintaining cleanliness while following safety and infection control policies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, elderly, and emotionally upset residents.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

# Dining Room ServerEducation LevelNone## Description**General Description**: Provide assistance and service in all food functions in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines.**Duties and Responsibilities**:* Review menus prior to serving times and understand menu.* Inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to the resident.* Assist cooks in meal preparation including salads and desserts.* Follow department standard procedures for wait staff in serving residents meals.* Serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.* Set up meal trays, food carts, dining room, etc., as instructed.* Distribute and collect menus as necessary.* Obtain food supplies for next meal.* Deliver food carts, trays, etc., to designated areas. Serve food in dining room as instructed.* Perform dishwashing/cleaning procedures. Assure that utensils, etc., are readily available for next meal.* Remove food trays from carts, kitchen, dining rooms, etc., and take to dishwashing area.* Prepare and deliver snacks, etc., as instructed.* Follow safety regulations and precautions at all times.* Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies.* Report missing/illegible labels or MSDSs to your supervisor.* Make only authorized food substitutions.* Restock condiments on tables.* Assist in food preparation for special meals, for parties, etc.* Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures.* Clean and sanitize work tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.* Sweep and mop floors as directed.* Carry soiled utensils, dishes etc., to wash area.* Return clean utensils and dishes to proper storage areas.* Ensure that safety regulations and precautions are followed at all times by all personnel.* Follow established Infection Control Precautions policies and procedures when performing daily tasks.* Agree not to disclose resident’s protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Executive Director.* All other duties as assigned by Director of Dining Services.## Qualifications**Qualifications**:* High school diploma preferred.* Must have good interpersonal skills.* Must have a general understanding of special diets in accordance with State and ADA regulatory guidelines.* One (1) year food experience in a capacity in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred (but not necessary).* Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.* Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas, and proper performance of assigned duties.* Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility.* Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 40 pounds* May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.**Requirements:*** Must be able to speak, read and understand verbal and written instructions in English; and must be able to be understood clearly and easily by residents as English is the prevailing language at Holly Hall Retirement Community.* Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.* Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the public.* Must be able to work harmoniously with other personnel.* Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.* Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours.* Is subject to frequent interruptions.* Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.* Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.* Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with other staff.* Must be in good general heath and demonstrate emotional stability.* Must be able to lift, push, pull, move and manipulate at least 50 pounds.* Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
