Job summary

O’Neil Digital Solutions is seeking a Digital Stitcher Operator I for the 1st shift (4x10). You will set up, operate, and maintain saddle stitch equipment to produce bound materials, monitor quality, and keep machines running smoothly.

Responsibilities include following job tickets, performing routine maintenance, spotting defects, and communicating status to the supervisor. Prior printing/bindery experience and ability to read manuals are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED is preferred.
• Two years' experience in a printing or bindery environment preferred; experience with stitching equipment is a plus.
• Must be technically and mechanically oriented and able to read/interpret operation manuals.

Responsibilities

• Set up equipment at job start according to job ticket specifications.
• Inspect equipment for safety and performance; perform preventative maintenance.
• Monitor quality, output, and productivity; adjust as needed to meet specs.
• Report defective materials or issues to department manager; communicate job status.

Summary

The Digital Stitcher Operator I is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining saddle stitch equipment used to produce binded printing materials.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Sets up equipment at the beginning of each job according to the specifications provided on the job ticket
• Responsible for the inspection of equipment as well as potential safety concerns
• Maintain equipment, troubleshoot problems, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment as needed
• Monitor quality, output, and overall productivity
• Make adjustments during operation as required to return output to the proper specifications
• Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions such as imperfect bindings, ink spots, torn, loose and uneven pages to the department manager
• Communicates status of jobs to department manager
• Train and monitor PHI recycling
• Maintain workflow from start to end of machine
• Set the counter stacker with assistance
• Prepare the three-knife trimmer with assistance
• Set-up the Cover Feeder with assistance
• Operate a productivity level of 70% minimum or better
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

• High School graduate, or completion of GED required preferred.
• Two yearsexperience in a printing or Bindery environment preferred. (operating either Horizon, IBIS or Mueller Stitchers is a plus)
• This position requires an individual who is technically and mechanically oriented
• Must be able to read and interpret documents such as operation and maintenance instructions
• Must adhere to all Safety and OSHA standards
• Perform all work and activities with honesty and integrity

Working Conditions

Must be able to perform the essential job duties. Work may be performed in an office, warehouse and/or manufacturing environment. Requires the ability to perform the following activities for the majority of the day: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb. In addition, requires the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to noise and be required to wear hearing protection for the duration of the shift.
