You will partner with coaches, planners and engineers to deliver dashboards and reporting tools leveraging Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate and AI features.

The 4-6 month contract emphasizes rapid prototyping, data modeling across up to 15 data streams, and hand-off to client IT with thorough documentation.

  • A track record of building and delivering data solutions, dashboards or applications yourself, not only designing or managing them.
  • Strong Power BI skills, including DAX and Power Query (M), plus data modelling with SQL and Python.
  • Experience with Databricks (including Genie), Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services and the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate), SharePoint and advanced Excel.
  • Working fluency with AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude or Copilot) and experience building AI agents.
  • Experience integrating tools into a client's existing data environment and handing solutions over to enterprise IT teams; oil and gas or asset-intensive industry experience is an asset.
  • Rigour about data accuracy, and the ability to explain technical work in plain language to engineers, field leaders and IT teams.
  • A degree in computer science, data science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience; Microsoft or Databricks certifications are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Turn manual, spreadsheet-heavy workflows into working tools, automating them with Power BI and Power Automate.
  • Prototype and deliver MVPs, including performance tracking dashboards and reporting tools that fit the client's existing data structure.
  • Develop applications using Power Apps, Azure or Web/HTML, choosing the approach the solution architecture calls for.
  • Build AI agents that sit on top of the data model and answer users' questions.
  • Ingest and connect data from multiple sources and build data models that support reporting, analytics and AI.
  • Transform data using SQL, Python and Power Query (M), and support pipelines in Databricks, Microsoft Fabric and Azure.
  • Repair and stabilize existing digital tools and spreadsheets so field teams can keep working.
  • Use AI coding tools to work faster, while reviewing, testing and validating every output against source data before it reaches the client.
  • Work with planners, engineers and leaders to map current processes and translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Hand off finished solutions to client IT teams with clear documentation and walkthroughs, and help build digital tools for RLG's own teams between scopes.

Job description

About RLG

RLG specializes in accelerating change from enterprise-wide transformation to front-line implementation. Clients call us when change is critical, trusting our expertise and proven methods to identify, quantify, and deliver measurable results.

The Role

As a Digital Solutions Developer, you join an RLG implementation team supporting integrated planning and scheduling for a major upstream oil and gas operator. You'll work beside RLG coaches and the client's planners and engineers to turn manual, spreadsheet-heavy processes into working digital tools, deliver a minimum viable product (MVP) the client can use right away, and hand it off to the client's IT and data teams.
This is a 4-6-month contract with potential for extension, based in Houston, TX.

What You’ll Do
  • Turn manual, spreadsheet-heavy workflows into working tools, automating them with Power BI (DAX and Power Query) and Power Automate.
  • Rapidly prototype and deliver MVPs, including performance tracking dashboards and reporting tools that fit the client's existing data structure.
  • Develop applications using Power Apps, Azure or Web/HTML, choosing the approach the solution architecture calls for.
  • Build AI agents (for example, in Databricks Genie and Microsoft Copilot) that sit on top of the data model and answer users' questions.
  • Ingest and connect data from multiple sources (currently 15 data streams) and build data models that support reporting, analytics and AI.
  • Transform data using SQL, Python and Power Query (M), and support the client's data engineers building pipelines in Databricks, Microsoft Fabric and Azure.
What You Bring
