Job description

Description

Want to make contributions that accelerate the readiness of our nation’s defenses to support next generation hypersonic missile and reentry systems as well as undersea platforms?

Want to work in an organization that values your ideas, where projects may range from rapid prototypes to high reliability development, and where initiative in small team environments is encouraged?

If you love applying your skills in Signal Processing and Optimal Estimation in support of Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) applications, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL!

We design and build an array of hardware and software solutions for our Military sponsors that 1) provide situational awareness during tactical deployments and 2) collect data during operational testing events for analysis and performance reporting. We need people who possess initiative, creativity, breadth of knowledge and a desire for continuous learning. We provide a welcoming environment for hardworking teams of engineers and scientists to apply their backgrounds in engineering and computer science to solve critical defense challenges.

As a part of our team you will...
  • Design and implement sophisticated signal processing algorithms for applications in telemetry, radio navigation, and other RF systems
  • Design, develop and test GPS receivers for post-processing applications and contested RF environment use cases
  • Develop advanced algorithms to detect the presence and severity of GPS denial events, to include jamming and spoofing
  • Build software tools to analyze flight test GPS and Telemetry signals for performance assessment and anomalous behavior
  • Research, prototype, and field test navigation algorithms complementary to GPS which include multi-sensor PNT fusion
  • Brief sponsors and working groups to effectively communicate proposed concepts, solutions, and analysis
Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent technical field
  • Have 3 or more years of demonstrated experience working in 1) algorithm, hardware or software development relating to Position, Navigation, and Timing systems and/or 2) Test and Evaluation Systems of PNT systems
  • Are proficient in scientific programming languages such as Matlab or Python, modern C++, and software development methodologies
  • Are able to obtain a Secret security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information up to the Secret level. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Possess an MS or PhD in a relevant subject area
  • Have technical leadership experience
  • Have applicable military experience in Navigation, Radio, or Electronics
