Marking Services, Inc. is seeking a Digital Print Operator to run high-speed digital printers, ensure quality and timely production, and support the production center workflow.

The ideal candidate will have 1+ year of digital printing experience, proficiency with MS Office and Adobe Illustrator, and familiarity with RIPs and image-setters. Join a team focused on safety, innovation, and delivering quality safety identification products.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associates preferred.
  • At least 1 year of digital printing experience.
  • Experience with MS Office and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Familiarity with Rips and image-setters; knowledge of substrates.
  • Ability to load, operate and troubleshoot high-volume print systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate large-scale high-speed digital printer and meet production timelines.
  • Maintain print quality and troubleshoot image quality issues.
  • Perform press maintenance tasks and monitor consumables and filters.
  • Coordinate with team members to ensure file preparation and workflow.
  • Submit, release, and reprint jobs as needed to meet customer deadlines.
  • Ensure safety, cleanliness, and organization of the facility.

Job description

The Digital Print Operator operates large scale high speed digital printer, a successful candidate must multi-task to deliver their work on time, meeting and exceeding customer service standards and executing the Production Center Workflow and Quality Assurance Process. The Digital Press Operator demonstrates proficiency in coordinating & prioritizing all aspects of the production printing process with substantial focus on producing a quality printed product rapidly and efficiently.

Responsibilities:
Press Maintenance & Operation:
  • Perform press cleaning, replenishing of consumables, and replacing of filters & bottles and waste containers
  • Monitor High Frequency Service Items (HFSI's) and perform repairs, adjustments and general maintenance procedures as necessary
  • Use diagnostics to troubleshoot and correct image quality concerns
  • Contact and interface with press vendor support as necessary
  • Respond appropriately to fault, error, and alert messages
  • Gains technical understanding of how each material/product is produced and how to manufacture each item
  • Troubleshoot problems that occur during job submission or the printing process
  • Ensure proper paper handling, conditioning and loading of consumables
  • Calibrate and linearize the system to maintain optimal color output (for digital color accuracy)
  • Monitor and report environmental changes that may impact equipment performance (humidity and temperature)
Print Production:
  • Ensure required resources are available to complete job (media, ink, etc.)
  • Submit, release, and reprint jobs to the press
  • Coaches team members on how to increase quality of orders produced in house; makes recommendations on file preparation requirements
  • Evaluate output and perform adjustments to obtain a desired level of image quality
Printing & Finishing:
  • Follows production workflow to produce high volumes of work, using high speed digital printer
  • Effectively prepare and troubleshoot various files formats and change to PDF print-ready status
  • Run orders on time while maximizing the equipment's productivity
  • Completes material usage on Manufacturing Orders before distributing material to next work center
  • Follow policies & procedures; Ensure a clean and organized facility; Follow safety precautions
Operations:
  • Works with the Production Manager to ensure adequate supplies are on hand for finishing needs
  • Quality checks finished products to ensure job specifications are being met
  • Alters production schedule and job order to expedite timely processing of projects in accordance with the customers' requirements and MSI's production workflow standards.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • Attention to detail a must; sound organizational and problem-solving skill set
  • High School diploma or equivalent required, Associates Degree in print or graphics preferred
  • No less than one-year previous experience in digital printing environment
  • Experience with MS Office products
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator
  • Experience with Rips and or Image-setters
  • Knowledge of substrates and their limitations/characteristics
  • Basic mechanical abilities and motor skills
  • Experience operating high volume, networked print systems
  • Knowledge of various finishing operations and equipment
  • Experience with variable information workflows
  • Familiarity with image editing applications supported in the production facility
  • Knowledge of preflight and file preparation
Physical Demands and Work Environment:

There is moderate risk of injury. Must be able to lift to 90 lbs. routinely. Average work hours are 40 hours per week. May require some additional hours when production demand is high. Must be able to stand entire shift. Consistent and regular attendance required.
