Job summary

RRD in Wisconsin is seeking a press operator for 1st shift with rotating 3-on/4-off schedule. Starting pay range is $20.00–$26.00 per hour, with overtime and benefits available.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, equipment and safety requirements.
• Ability to read and understand job specifications and determine press usage, settings and materials.
• Skill to set tight controls and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Capability to perform minor repairs and routine press maintenance.
• Knowledge of proper packing pressure for printing and accurate plate mounting using micrometer.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain a number of press equipment.
• Perform make-ready tasks: hang plates, install cylinders, inspect plates/cylinders, prep blankets, adjust tension and register.
• Make color corrections and press adjustments to meet quality specifications.
• Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press; replace worn parts as needed.
• Carry out periodic maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer.

Available Shifts

1st Shift: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM

• Rotating schedule of 3 days one week and 4 days the next week. Includes working Saturday/Sunday every other week.

Compensation

Starting Pay Range: $20.00/hr - $26.00/hr

Job Duties

• The position is responsible to set up, adjust, operate, and maintain a number of press equipment
• Perform all make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examine plates/cylinders for imperfections and checks for correct positioning of images, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and register etc.
• Make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work
• Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, making minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as required
• Performs periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer

Qualifications

• Requires thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials and specifiactions, equipment, and safety requirements and skills to perform assignments
• Skill to read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most appropriate press usage, press settings and materials needed to run the job successfully
• Skill to make a variety of difficult precise settings of controls, settings, and adjustments, and to perform routine operational maintenance of equipment
• Skill inroutine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment
• Knowledge of the appropriate amount of packing pressure needed to obtain the proper printing pressure for the type of job being run
• Skill in use of micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly.

Additional Information

The pay range for this role at the noted location is $20.00 to $26.00 per hour. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location.
