The University of Kansas, through the Institute for Policy & Social Research (IPSR), invites applications for a part-time Digital Navigator based in Lawrence, KS. The role supports underserved communities' digital access and skills, delivering 4 hours of in-person training weekly and developing curricula with PI Seo.

Position Overview

The Institute for Policy & Social Research (IPSR) is a designated research center for the social sciences, supporting social science researchers at the University of Kansas. IPSR supports faculty-led research centers, their directors, and a network of more than 100 affiliates, and staff.

The individual hired for this position is expected to support underserved communities' digital access and skills. Specifically, the Digital Navigator will work with PI Seo in curriculum development and creating educational content on digital skills for women recently released from jail or prison in Kansas.

The Digital Navigator will also hold in-person education sessions (4 hours every week) to answer questions from program participants and provide technical assistance to them as needed.

The Digital Navigator is expected to attend the project team's weekly project meeting and contribute to planning and implementation of digital skills training for women in reentry.

Finally, the Digital Navigator will support the project team's engagements with women in reentry in Kansas.

The position is grant-funded.

Job Description

The candidate will have the following responsibilities.

80% - Technology Curriculum Development and Instruction:

• Collaborating on developing technology education curricula.
• Creating online technology learning modules.
• Providing technical support to program participants.
• Holding in-person education sessions to answer program participants' questions.

20% - Project Coordination Support:

• Assisting the project team in evaluating learning outcomes.
• Communicating project-related information with the project team.
• Documenting project development procedures.

Required Qualifications

1. High school diploma or GED and related experience or classroom study.
2. Certificates in technology education program such as coding, excel, digital storytelling, AI, or online branding.
3. Experience with an online learning management site.
4. Excellent organizational skills and experience working independently as demonstrated in work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience working in a multidisciplinary, team-based environment.
2. Ability to synthesize information relevant to particular audiences as evidenced by work history or professional training.
3. Knowledge and experience with social media platforms and messaging as evidenced by application materials.
