Job summary

Kmrg, LLC is hiring a Digital Library Librarian to support the USACE Mission Support Battalion Library in Alexandria, VA. You will catalog materials, create and maintain metadata, and ensure interoperability and long-term access to digital collections.

Qualifications include an MLS/MLIS, 2+ years in cataloging across formats, and experience with CONTENTdm, DSpace, and Knowvation. Proficiency in MARC, MODS, and Dublin Core is required, plus ability to handle delicate materials.

Qualifications

• ALA-accredited Master of Library Science (MLS) or Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree.
• 2+ years of professional original and copy cataloging across multiple formats.
• Cataloging experience with monographs, audiovisual materials, maps, manuscripts, rare books, etc.
• Knowledge of digital-library platforms such as CONTENTdm, DSpace, and Knowvation.
• Familiarity with metadata standards including MARC, MODS, and Dublin Core.
• 1+ year developing or maintaining metadata files and identifying metadata errors.
• Experience with digitization and digital-library ingestion.

Responsibilities

• Perform original and copy cataloging for materials in various formats.
• Create, edit, and maintain metadata supporting USACE digital-library collections.
• Apply metadata standards (MARC, MODS, Dublin Core).
• Identify and correct metadata errors affecting discoverability.
• Support digitization and ingestion of USACE publications and materials.
• Coordinate cataloging and metadata with established workflows.
• Handle older and delicate source materials carefully during processing.
