Job summary

Kansas City Public Schools seeks a Library Media Specialist to enrich the school library, collaborate with faculty, and advance technology integration across the district. The role supports reading, research, and digital literacy for K-12 students.

The incumbent will lead cataloging, provide staff development, and help create a tech-enabled, inquiry-based learning environment aligned with MLS standards. This busy position is based on campus with regular district collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education required.
• Missouri State Certification as School Librarian (K-12) or Library Media Specialist (K-12) preferred.
• Expertise in instructional technology integration and teaching with technology best practices.

Responsibilities

• Circulate books to K-12 students and support independent reading.
• Collaborate with teachers to develop and present lessons using digital and print resources.
• Maintain cataloging system and instruct on its use for staff and students.
• Provide professional development and coaching on digital and print resources for research and skills development.
• Support district 1:1 device initiative and ensure equitable access to technology.
