Job summary

The Loveland Police Department is seeking a Digital Forensics Examiner to independently conduct advanced digital forensic examinations, analyze evidence, and support criminal investigations. The role requires technical expertise, meticulous documentation, and collaboration with detectives and prosecutors to identify leads and build cases.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 60 semester credit hours of college coursework in Digital Forensics, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, IT, Criminal Justice, or related field.
• 3 years of full-time digital forensic examination experience in law enforcement/government/lab setting.
• Current vendor-neutral certification (CFCE, GIAC, GCFE/GCFA/GASF, EnCE, or equivalent).
• Minimum of 200 hours of documented digital forensic training, including at least 40 hours in the last 3 years.
• Prior court testimony as a digital forensic examiner.

Responsibilities

• Manage digital forensic examinations and caseloads independently under supervisor guidance.
• Extract, recover, and analyze digital evidence from mobile devices, computers, and cloud sources using forensic tools.
• Conduct advanced analysis to identify investigative leads and develop evidentiary connections.
• Maintain chain-of-custody and ensure admissibility of digital evidence.
• Prepare forensic reports and evidentiary documentation for court proceedings.
• Assist with search warrants, subpoenas, and affidavits; on-scene evidence collection as needed.
• Collaborate with detectives, prosecutors, and other agencies on complex investigations.
• Provide courtroom testimony regarding methodologies and findings when qualified.
