Job summary

North Carolina Department of Justice’s State Crime Lab is seeking an entry-level Forensic Scientist I (S) to perform digital evidence casework, prepare analytical reports, and provide testimony in court. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, digital forensics or related fields, with relevant coursework and certification track behind 18 months of eligibility.

Successful candidates will undergo a thorough background check and must meet ISO standards for digital forensics

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with a major in computer science, digital forensics, networking, information technology, cyber technology, criminal justice; or forensic science or multimedia studies with related coursework.
• Must obtain certifications consistent with international and ISO standards within 18 months (CFCE/CCE/DFCP/GCFE/CFVT/CFVE).
• Experience in digital forensics and related certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform entry level Digital Evidence casework.
• Prepare written reports of analysis results.
• Provide expert testimony in court.
