Job summary

Infotrend Inc. is seeking a digital forensics professional to assist in seizing and preserving electronic evidence, maintaining chain of custody, and producing clear forensic reports. The role involves working with investigators to plan analyses and testify in legal proceedings.

The position requires a related bachelor’s degree, competency testing, and relevant forensics certifications. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Successful completion of competency and proficiency tests.
• A+ Certification OR a laboratory approved industry certification in digital forensics (EnCE/GCFE/CFCE/CCO/CA E etc.).
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with seizure of digital evidence from on-site locations to minimize data loss.
• Preserve and archive digital evidence using forensic best practices.
• Maintain chain of custody and documentation.
• Interface with investigators to develop analysis plans to meet customer needs.
• Use authorized forensic tools to image and extract data from digital media.
• Maintain operational effectiveness of government hardware, software, and forensic support equipment.
• Write clear, repeatable forensic reports and notes.
• Testify in court, Grand Jury, or other legal proceedings.
• Provide guidance and training on emerging technology and new techniques to forensic personnel.
• Perform method validation/verification of forensic tools.
• Perform instrument maintenance and testing.
• Assist with the Proficiency Test Program.
• Assist with accreditation support.
• Perform audits/reviews of forensic work.
• Assist with discovery requests.
• Assist with consolidation of electronic records for CaseClosure.
• Organize laboratory records and data for delivery to customers.
• Perform other laboratory forensic functions as assigned.

• Interfacing with investigators and developing analysis plan to meet customer needs.
• Utilizing authorized forensic tools to perform forensic imaging and extraction from digital media.
• Maintaining operational effectiveness of all assigned Government hardware, software ,and forensic support equipment.
• Writing clear reports that accurately present forensic findings and detailed notes to ensure those results are repeatable.
• Testifying in court, Grand Jury, or other legal proceedings through testimony, sworn affidavits, or other legal instruments.
• Providing guidance and training on emerging technology and new techniques to forensic personnel as needed.
• Performing method validation/verification (review of forensic tools).
• Performing instrument maintenance and testing.
• Assisting with the Proficiency Test Program.
• Assisting with accreditation support.
• Performing audits / review of forensic work.
• Assisting with discovery requests.
• Assisting with consolidation of electronic records of forensic analysis for filing (CaseClosure).
• Organizing laboratory records and data for delivery to laboratory customers.
• Performing other laboratory forensic functions as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Successfully passing competency and proficiency test.
• A+ Certification OR a laboratory approved industry certification in digital forensics from an accredited organization (i.e EnCE, GCFE, CFCE, CCO, CCPA, 3CE, ICMDE, CCI, MAR, CAE etc..).
• Must be U.S. Citizen.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance.

The salary for this position ranges from $58,000 to $71,000 annually. The exact salary offered will depend on your qualifications, experience, and alignment with the responsibilities of the role.
