Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania State Police, seeks a Digital Forensic Examiner 2 to support public safety by analyzing digital evidence for investigations.

You will handle data, examine electronic devices with forensic tools, and assist with complex cases, fieldwork, and reporting for court.

This full-time role (37.5 hours/week) runs 8:00–16:00 Monday–Friday; telework is not available. Starting salary is $78,925.

Qualifications

• One year as a Digital Forensic Examiner 1 or equivalent
• One year of professional work experience in the technical analysis of digital evidence or a relevant bachelor’s degree
• Equivalent combination of experience and training including one year of digital evidence analysis

Responsibilities

• Receive and manage digital equipment and media while preserving original data
• Conduct examinations of electronic devices and use forensic tools to identify and gather case-related information
• Assist experienced examiners with complex digital evidence involving deleted files, encrypted data, hidden information, or unusual systems
• Support investigators at field scenes by helping to identify, collect, and secure electronic equipment
• Provide assistance with network accounts, security updates, and infrastructure used by examiners and investigators
• Prepare reports and assist with presenting digital evidence and procedures during court proceedings

Education

Bachelor's degree in digital forensics, cyber forensics, forensic science, computer science, or any information technology field
