Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Company LP in Findlay, Ohio, seeks an experienced Delivery leader to oversee PMs, RTEs, and Scrum Masters across critical programs. You will drive disciplined delivery, establish standards, and mentor delivery professionals to ensure alignment with strategic goals.

You will collaborate with Portfolio Management, LACE, Product leadership, and business stakeholders to optimize capability, manage risks, and enable successful execution of complex initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years of diversified IT experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership of agile delivery teams.
  • Experience delivering on business-critical initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operations of the delivery team, providing guidance and mentorship to PMs, RTEs, and Scrum Masters.
  • Ensures disciplined, predictable delivery across business-critical initiatives with governance and standardization.
  • Leads and develops Release Train Engineers and Scrum Masters for consistent practices and integration into delivery teams.
  • Manages resource allocation to prioritized initiatives with capacity planning and staffing.
  • Monitors demand, capacity, and risks, addressing gaps to enable execution.
  • Defines delivery strategy, playbooks, and reporting to drive maturity and transparency.
  • Partners with business and technology leaders to provide actionable delivery insights and proactive risk mitigation.
  • Supports PI planning readiness and cross-team coordination with LACE and delivery leaders.
  • Aligns backlog readiness and planning inputs with Product Owners to improve execution.

Position Summary

Oversees all project managers, release train Engineers (RTEs), and scrum masters, ensuring disciplined, predictable, high‑quality delivery across business‑critical initiatives. Accountable for delivery execution standards and continuous improvement of delivery practices in support of the Digital operating model. Partners closely with Portfolio Management, the Lean Agile Center of Excellence (LACE), Product leadership, and business stakeholders to align delivery capabilities to prioritized work, advance agile maturity, strengthen delivery practices, and enable successful execution of business outcomes

Key Responsibilities
  • Manages daily operations of the team, providing guidance, mentorship, and driving a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Oversees recruitment, development, retention, and performance to build strong talent.
  • Enables successful delivery across initiatives by ensuring strong delivery process discipline, consistent execution practices, and alignment to delivery standards. Collaborates with technology and business stakeholders to ensure delivery practices effectively support solution delivery and business objectives.
  • Leads, coaches, develops and manages the assignment of Release Train Engineers (RTEs), Scrum Masters and Project Managers, ensuring clear role expectations, consistent practices, and effective integration into delivery teams.
  • Manages effective assignment of resources to prioritized business initiatives, ensuring the appropriate capacity, capabilities, and delivery support are in place to meet organizational needs.
  • Monitors demand, capacity, and delivery risks, proactively addressing gaps and constraints to enable successful execution.
  • Define and leads the delivery practice strategy, establishes standards, playbooks, templates, and reporting expectations to drive consistency and predictability. Drives continuous improvement and maturity of delivery practices, including defining key rituals, and performance indicators.
  • Acts as a trusted partner to business and technology leaders, promoting transparency and alignment. Provides leadership with timely, actionable insights into delivery performance, risks, and dependencies to enable early intervention and course correction.
  • Builds and scales delivery capability by developing Scrum Masters, establishing clear career paths, role expectations, and ongoing skill development aligned to organizational needs.
  • Oversees delivery health across initiatives, ensuring strong delivery hygiene including planning discipline, dependency management, risk and issue management, and progress transparency.
  • Partners with Lean Center of Excellence (LACE) and delivery leaders to advance agile maturity and strengthen delivery effectiveness while ensuring Release Train Engineers (RTEs), Project Managers and scrum masters support consistent execution, Program Increment (PI) planning & readiness and cross team coordination
  • Partners with Product Owners to strengthen backlog readiness, planning inputs, and execution effectiveness without direct reporting ownership.
  • Collaborates with tower and functional leaders to ensure delivery practices are aligned to the operating model and delivery roles are effectively embedded within teams.
  • Partners with Portfolio Managers, Product leaders, and business stakeholders to understand strategic priorities, anticipated demand, and delivery needs, ensuring delivery capabilities and resources are aligned to support successful execution.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other computer-related degree required.
  • Advanced certifications (Certified Scrum Master, PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner) preferred.
  • Ten (10) or more years of diversified IT experience required.
  • Three (3) or more years of direct or indirect leadership experience required.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience managing agile delivery teams preferred.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in agile delivery preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other computer-related degree required.
  • Advanced certifications (Certified Scrum Master, PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner) preferred.
  • Ten (10) or more years of diversified IT experience required.
