Job summary

Geisinger Medical Center seeks a highly qualified Registered Dietitian to provide safe, evidence‑based nutritional therapy and manage individualized nutrition care in collaboration with the health‑care team. The role includes interpreting Nutrition Care Process, developing care plans, and counseling patients across diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Pennsylvania Registered Dietitian license required or eligibility to sit for registration.
• Minimum 5 years of related work experience; new graduate dietitians graduating within 1–2 months may be considered.
• Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist certification.

Responsibilities

• Use the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Nutrition Care Process to assess individual needs through interviews, histories, medical record review, and interdisciplinary discussion.
• Develop nutrition care plans, including diet composition, meal patterns, supplements, and enteral/parenteral feeding recommendations.
• Collaborate with the health-care team to establish patient-care goals.
• Document care in accordance with established standards.
• Evaluate nutritional status and recommend optimal care interventions.
• Counsel individuals, families, and care providers on nutrition, tailored to educational, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Plan and conduct group classes on various nutrition topics.
• Author nutrition orders for hospitalized patients following Clinical Nutrition policy.
• Advocate and educate on food, culinary, nutrition, health issues, food security, and nutrition wellness resources.
• Plan continuing nutrition care using ancillary resources as needed.
• Self‑evaluate and monitor productivity trends and workload changes.
• Compile statistics and complete Clinical Productivity worksheets promptly.
• Participate in departmental initiatives and organizational committees to support strategic goals.
• Precept students and mentor/train new staff members and team colleagues.
