Job summary

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship is required; non-citizens may be appointed per VA policy
• RDN credential from CDR satisfies education requirement (bachelor's degree or higher)
• English language proficiency is required for spoken and written communication
• Meet KSAs and all basic qualification requirements for the GS-7 to GS-11 levels

Responsibilities

• Use technology to enhance work across NFS.
• Manage VHA software and COTS tools for food operations and patient meals.
• Enter and maintain ingredients, recipes, nutrition info, and menus.
• Oversee meal production and temperature control systems.
• Lead a menu committee and ensure recipe standardization.
• Cost out recipes and ensure adherence to budgets.
• Develop and revise menus per VA guidelines, patient preferences, and cultural needs.
• Prepare nutrient analyses for menus and ensure diet guidelines are followed.
• Create training materials for NCC and maintain related documentation.
• Prepare productivity and audit reports and implement corrective actions when needed.
• Coordinate training for computer systems, menus, and informatics for NFS staff.
• Collaborate with clinical nutrition and leadership to improve veterans dining experience.
• Support patient satisfaction within NFS and act as ADPAC for IT processes.
• Maintain and update the NCC SharePoint site.
