Job summary

Good Samaritan Mandan Sunset, a faith-based nonprofit, seeks a Dietitian to plan and provide medical nutrition therapy across acute and long-term care. You will lead nutrition care protocols, educate residents and staff, and coordinate community nutrition activities in a 128-bed facility.

You will manage dietary plans, assess outcomes, and collaborate with physicians and caregivers to improve nutritional status for diverse residents in Mandan, ND.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in dietetics or nutrition from ACEND-accredited program; master's required for new grads after 2024.
  • Five years of clinical nutrition experience; internship or equivalent required.
  • Currently holds RD license; CDR registration; relevant advanced certifications preferred.
  • Certifications should support primary practice area and be endorsed by leadership.

Good Samaritan Society - Mandan Sunset is a 128-bed facility offering long-term care, skilled nursing services, in-house dialysis, post-acute care, and restorative therapy. Nearly all residents enjoy private rooms and bathrooms, providing added comfort and privacy.

Job Summary

Plans, develops, and provides diet interventions, medical nutrition therapy, nutrition care and preventive counseling to individuals and groups in all areas of primary and specialty patient/resident care, acute care, skilled nursing, out-patient, and/or community settings. Evaluates treatments or procedures for effectiveness using an evidence-based approach. Works on nutrition care protocols for the assigned area and acts as leader for the health care team in the implementation of the nutrition therapies. Identifies nutritional intervention methods within own specialty. Educates on diet according to disease state, medical condition and health risk. Incorporates new trends and techniques as necessary to design care plan and update standards of care policy manuals and educational material. Assists in tailoring clinical education and associated materials for use with clients/patients/residents, families and caregivers. Performs quality control and maintains a high standard in relation to infection control mechanisms for safety.

Optimizes nutritional status by providing medical nutrition therapy to clients/patients/residents with nutrition risk. This includes determination of nutritional status through nutritional assessment, individualized care plans, provider order recommendations and implementation of nutrition therapy (including verbal orders/order writing, diet modification, nutrition support, oral nutrition supplements, vitamin/mineral supplements, etc.), education and counseling for disease and nutrition risk management, and evaluation of outcomes of medical nutrition therapy interventions. Additionally includes: optimization of self-management education and skills in the care of clients/patients/residents with chronic conditions. Provides nutrition therapy and monitors nutritional care of clients/patients/residents of all ages including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. Ability to recognize, evaluate, and provide for nutritional needs based on cultural, ethnic, and religious beliefs. This includes the responsibility to develop, coordinate and conduct educational activities for individuals with illnesses/diseases associated with nutrition, and to their families. Provides leadership, guidance and acts as a resource to peers. Serves as a resource to other disciplines and community agencies as appropriate. Coordinate, plan, and participate in community activities regarding medical nutrition therapy according to quality standards. Aware and conscious of individual's insurance coverage and reimbursement circumstances, and participates in clinical performance improvement activities, including research that tests new treatments or procedures for clinical evidence of outcomes.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in dietetics or food and nutrition through an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited program. For graduates after January 1, 2024, a master's degree designation will be required by ACEND.
  • Clinical nutrition experience through an approved coordinated undergraduate program or successful completion of post graduate internship required. Five (5) years experience as a clinical dietitian required.
  • Currently holds Registered Dietitian (RD) license within the applicable state(s). Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required. Possesses and maintains advanced certification from recognized entity such as: the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN), the national Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE).
  • Certification should support primary area of practice and be supported by leadership.
