RWJBarnabas Health in Elizabeth, NJ is seeking a part-time Dietician to join our Dietary-Management team. The role involves performing clinical nutrition assessments, developing care plans, and guiding inpatient nutrition to support patient recovery.

The ideal candidate will be RD/RDN or RD-eligible, have experience in acute care, and be able to collaborate with physicians, nurses, and pharmacists. Weekend availability is required; your work will impact patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Qualifications

• AND-approved didactic program and accredited dietetic internship completed.
• Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) status or RD-eligible.
• Clinical experience in acute care hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal communication and ability to interpret age-specific data.
• Willingness to work weekends as needed by the department and with behavioral health patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive clinical nutrition assessments and screenings per established policies.
• Develop individualized nutrition care plans and monitor patient response to prescribed medical nutrition therapy.
• Provide inpatient discharge diet instructions and counseling to patients and families.

• Provide formal nutrition consultations as ordered by medical providers.

Typical Day Responsibilities

• Maintaining thorough, updated, and accurate documentation on clinical patient profile sheets and electronic health records.

Qualifications

• Education: Completion of an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) approved didactic program and an accredited internship.

• Experience: Previous clinical experience within an acute care hospital or healthcare environment is highly preferred.
• Core Skills: Strong interpersonal communication skills, proficiency with nutrition tracking software, and the ability to interpret age‑specific patient data effectively.
• Special Requirements: Candidates must be fully comfortable working directly with behavioral health patients and must have full availability to work weekends as needed by the department.
