Batavia Nursing Care Center is seeking a Dietician to join our 5 Star facility team. The role focuses on delivering expert dietary guidance to ensure safe, cost-effective nutrition and food service for residents, in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.

The Dietitian will assess residents, plan therapeutic diets, counsel on preferences, and collaborate with staff to maintain high-quality dietary services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics or related field required.
• Registered Dietitian required.
• 1 year of experience as a Dietitian in a health care setting preferred.

Responsabilités

• Develop or update the diet manual for residents.
• Assess and document nutritional needs per resident assessment and care plan.
• Plan and review regular and therapeutic diets and menus.
• Approve permanent menu substitutions.
• Counsel residents on dietary preferences, appetite, and therapeutic menus.
• Assess residents' allergies and cultural food considerations.
• Evaluate meal timing, sanitation, and handling procedures.
• Evaluate and advise on food service equipment.
• Assess food based on nutrition, preparation, taste, appearance and portions.
• Assist in adjusting recipes for yield.
• Maintain ordering method for food and dietary supplies.
• Serve as liaison between dietary department and residents.
• Plan and conduct in-service training for staff.
• Evaluate staffing needs in the Dietary Department.
• Monitor infection control procedures.
• Ensure RAI process aligns with guidelines.
• Follow Residents' Rights policies and corporate integrity program.

JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to provide expert advice to facility staff to establish and maintain systems that are effective and efficient to operate the dietary department and provide food service to residents in a cost-effective, efficient manner to safely meet residents' needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAJOR DUTIES

1. Develop or recommend a current diet manual to meet the needs of the residents.
2. Assess and document the nutritional needs of each resident in accordance with the resident comprehensive assessment and care plan.
3. Review and plan all regular and therapeutic diets and menus.
4. Approve all permanent menu substitutions.
5. Counsel residents regarding dietary likes and dislikes, appetite, food habits and therapeutic menus.
6. Assess and document residents' food allergies and cultural backgrounds that may affect food consumption.
7. Evaluate and make recommendations regarding the serving time of meals, sanitation and food handling procedures.
8. Evaluate and make recommendations regarding food service equipment.
9. Evaluate food based on nutritional adequacy, method of preparation, taste, appearance, serving temperature and portion size.
10. Assist Dietary Manager in adjusting recipes for desired yield.
11. Develop and maintain an established method for ordering food and dietary supplies.
12. Act as a liaison between dietary department and residents.
13. Plan and conduct in-service training programs for food service employees, nurses and nursing assistants.
14. Evaluate and make recommendations for adequate staffing of the Dietary Department.
15. Observe infection control procedures.
16. Ensure the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process is followed in accordance to State & Federal Guidelines.
17. Follow Residents' Rights policies at all times.
18. Adhere to all facility policies & procedures and ensure they are adhered to by all responsible parties and carry out disciplinary action for non-compliance as appropriate.
19. Ensure adherence to the Corporate Integrity Program and the Performance Expectations at all times.
20. Perform other related duties as directed by the Administrator and/or person of authority.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics or related field required. Registered as a Licensed Dietitian required.

1. 1 year of experience as a Dietitian in a health care setting preferred.
