Job summary

Job Description And Duties

METROPOLITAN STATE HOSPITAL-Located in Norwalk, Los Angeles County.

Dietetics Assistant Director (Clinical): The position manages the operating functions of Nutrition Services clinical area and Clinical Dietitians. Reviews and revises staff units/caseloads based on operational needs. Completes audits of dietitians’ nutrition assessments. Reviews nutrition curriculum for patient education and attends dietitian groups/classes. Responsible for reviewing and revising all clinical related policies on an annual basis. Responsible for reviewing and revising diet manual. Responsible for overseeing enteral nutrition inventory and ordering based on patient needs. Attends administrative and departmental meetings as required and participates in various committees.

Dietetics Assistant Director (Presentation): The position manages and directs the operation of the Nutrition Services Presentation area, which includes the traylines in the Central Kitchen and all the Satellite Kitchens/Dining Rooms. Ensures food is properly plated, per menu guidelines, in a palatable manner. Ensures all plans of correction, HACCP, CMS, Title 22, JCAHO and local food service laws and regulations are followed and maintained. Provides monthly departmental training for supervisors and staff. Ensures areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner, complete regular monthly audits of all areas. Assesses kitchen/dining room needs annually, supports and directs Food Service Supervisor I/II, attends departmental and administrative meetings and participates on various committees.

Minimum Qualifications

Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. (Applicants who are eligible to apply for registration will be admitted to the examination but must become registered to be eligible for appointment.)

AND

Either I:

One year of experience in California State Service performing the duties of a classification with a level of responsibility equivalent to Registered Dietitian

Or II:

Experience: One year of clinical or administrative experience in dietetic practice.

And Education: Equivalent to graduation from college with a major in dietetics or institutional management from a coordinated undergraduate dietetic program or a formalized post baccalaureate education program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
