Job summary

Geisinger is looking for a Diet Assistant to work in the Danville or South Wilkes-Barre office. This role involves transcribing patient diet orders and ensuring their specialized dietary needs are met in collaboration with clinical nutrition staff.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least a year of relevant experience. The position requires rotating weekends and holidays, focusing on providing quality care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enter nourishment specifications, allergies, food dislikes, and other specialized information.
• Check accuracy of the Substitution list and make decisions regarding it.
• Calculate fluid restrictions and specialized meal patterns.
• Process patient tray tickets to ensure accuracy of orders.
• Receive information regarding admissions, transfers, expirations, and diet changes.
• Update patient’s menu and tray ticket as needed.
• Print necessary reports and labels on diet office printers.
• Accept credit card payments and track meals.
• Initiate downtime procedures when required.
• Participate in training and onboarding.
