Job summary

The Waters of Peru seeks a Dietary Manager to assist the Dietitian in planning, organizing, and directing the Dietary Department to meet federal, state, and local standards. Responsibilities include coordinating dietary services with other departments, developing care plans, and ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary dining environment for residents.

Responsibilities also involve preparing dietary plans, policies, and assessments, supporting the administrative team, and ensuring equipment

Qualifications

  • Coordinate dietary services with Nursing, Housekeeping, Social Services, and other departments.
  • Assist in developing and applying departmental policies, procedures, and equipment use.
  • Assist in creating preliminary and comprehensive dietary assessments for residents.
  • Assist in planning care and dietary plans, and identifying goals for each resident.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure dietary staff are aware of and use care plans in daily services.
  • Identify any equipment needs for residents and ensure proper use.
  • Review and update care plans and assessments at least quarterly.
  • Provide substitute foods of similar nutritive value as needed.
  • Ensure proper operation and sanitation of kitchen equipment listed (e.g., blender, slicer, steam table, etc.).
  • Inspect storage and utility areas for upkeep and supply control.
  • Process diet changes from nursing services.

Dietary Manager to join our TEAM!!!
POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of your job position is to assist the Dietitian in planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operation of the Dietary Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that quality nutritional services are provided on a daily basis and that the dietary department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
A. Role Responsibilities – Job Knowledge/Duties:
  1. Coordinates dietary services and activities with other related departments (i.e., Nursing, Housekeeping, Social Services, etc.)
  2. Assists the dietary staff in the development and use of departmental policies, procedures, equipment, supplies, etc.
  3. Assist in developing preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the dietary needs of each resident
  4. Assist in the developing a written dietary plan of care (preliminary and comprehensive) that identifies the dietary problem/needs of the resident and the goals to be accomplished for each dietary problem/need identified
  5. Assist in the scheduling of care plans and assessments to be presented and discussed at each committee meeting
  6. Ensure that all dietary personnel are aware of the care plan and that care plans are used in planning daily dietary services for the resident
  7. Ensure that the care plan identifies any special equipment and utensils the resident may need (e.g., plate guard, enlarged silverware handles, etc.)
  8. Review and revise care plans and assessments as necessary, but at least quarterly
  9. Provide substitute foods of similar nutritive value to residents who refuse foods served
  10. Must be competent in the use of kitchen equipment as well as their maintenance and sanitation: Blender, Meat Slicer, Steam Table, Refrigerator/Freezers, Can Opener, Dishwasher, Garbage Disposal, Coffee Maker, Plate Warmer, Toaster, and Oven & Range
  11. Inspects food storage rooms, utility/janitorial closets, etc., for upkeep and supply control
  12. Processes diet changes and new diets as received from nursing services
  13. Assists in identifying, evaluating, and classifying routine and job related dietary functions to ensure that tasks involving potential exposure to blood/body fluids are properly identified and recorded
  14. Assists in planning the dietary services portion of the resident’s discharge plan
  15. Participates in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies
  16. Interviews residents or family members, as necessary, to obtain diet history
  17. Assists in developing methods for determining quality and quantity of food served
  18. Ensures that charted dietary progress notes are informative and descriptive of the services provided and of the resident’s response to the service
  19. Ensures that menus are maintained and filed in accordance with established policies and procedures
