Job summary

Margate Health & Rehabilitation, located in Jefferson, North Carolina, is seeking a Dietary Cook to join our healthcare team. The role involves preparing and serving meals, including texture-modified and therapeutic diets, in accordance with the facility menu and nutritional orders.

You will follow applicable standards and our policies, maintain a clean kitchen, and work as part of a supportive team. Prior healthcare cooking experience is preferred, with opportunities for professional growth

• Experience in food preparation in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to follow nutrition orders and dietary guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food including texture modified and therapeutic diets according to menu and orders.
• Prepare food in compliance with federal, state, and local standards and facility policies.
• Be detail-oriented, professional, and a team player who works well with others.
• Assist dietary aides and guide others in the absence of the manager.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and organized kitchen.
• Read and apply requirements of food tray cards.

Responsibilities include:

• Prepare and serve food including texture modified and therapeutic diets according to the facility menu and nutritional orders.
• Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations and our policies and procedures, and, as directed by the Certified Dietary Manager to ensure that quality food service is provided.
• Be detail-oriented, professional, and a team player who works well with others.
• Assist dietary aides as necessary and direct other employees with approval and in the absence of the Certified Dietary Manager.
• Be able to follow time schedules for meal preparation and serving.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and organized kitchen.
• Have a general knowledge and understanding of nutrition.
• Be able to read and accurately apply requirements of food tray cards.
• Have knowledge of quantity food production and serving techniques, and food safety/sanitation requirements.
• Interact positively with residents, families, vendors, staff, and other personnel.
• Prior cooking experience in a healthcare facility is preferred.
