Job summary

White Oak of Charleston is seeking a full-time Dietary/Food Service Associate to join our Charleston, SC kitchen. The role requires preparing and serving meals in accordance with menus and dietary guidelines, on a shift that includes every other weekend.

Hourly wages range from $15.50 to $19.00. The position emphasizes sanitation, personal hygiene, and teamwork in a facility on I-26/U University Ave campus with easy access to our residents’ care needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks foods according to menus and recipes, ensuring appetizing appearance.
• Tests cooked food by taste and smell to determine if properly cooked and seasoned.
• Apportioned and serves food for residents according to menu combinations or orders.
• Prepares foods for therapeutic diets according to diet menus / restrictions.
• Clears and cleans working area floors and equipment.
• Prepares meat or vegetables for next day per menus/production sheet.
• Aids in setting up steam table.
• Carries out assigned cleaning responsibilities / sanitation duties.
• Practices good personal hygiene daily.
• Adhere to the personnel policies and procedures of this facility and of the dietary department.
• Other related duties as assigned by Food Service Supervisor.
• No jewelry or fingernail polish is to be worn.
• Has responsibility for the kitchen and food service operations in the absence of the Food Service Supervisor.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

• Prepares and cooks foods, cereals, starches, meat and vegetables for meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance, following menus, using standardized recipes and following production chart for correct quantities. Handling food in accordance with sanitary standards.


• Tests cooked food by taste and smell to determine if properly cooked and seasoned.


• Apportioned and serves food for residents according to menu combinations or orders.


• Prepares foods for therapeutic diets according to diet menus / restrictions.


• Clears and cleans working area floors and equipment.


• Prepares meat or vegetables for next day if necessary as according to menus / food production sheet.


• Aids in setting up steam table.


• Carries out assigned cleaning responsibilities / sanitation duties.


• Practices good personal hygiene daily.


• Adhere to the personnel policies and procedures of this facility and of the dietary department.


• Other related duties as assigned by Food Service Supervisor.
