Job summary

PACE at Hudson Headwaters in Glens Falls, NY is seeking a Dietary Aide to join the Day Center team. This 20-hours-per-week role supports clinical staff by serving meals, monitoring temperatures, and following care plans for participants.

You will work under the Director of Site Operations & Team Services, coordinating with the RD and ensuring compliance with safety and privacy policies. Shifts run 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri, at $19.50/hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• At least 1 year of experience with frail or elderly populations.
• BLS certification or willingness to obtain.
• Reliable personal transportation.

Proposed Schedule: 20 hours per week. Shifts will vary between the hours of 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday

Summary

The Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) is a community-based program that provides coordinated medical and social services to eligible older adults who want to continue living in their own home despite chronic care needs. The Dietary Aide, under direct oversight of the Director of Site Operations & Team Services, is an integral member of the PACE at Hudson Headwaters (PHH) team. The Dietary Aide helps to provide the necessary care and food services to Participants attending the Day Center. The Dietary Aide works collaboratively with the Registered Dietician (RD) and helps to ensure all meals, snacks and equipment are meeting the Participant needs and are in accordance with the care plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Distribute meals and beverages in the Day Center following departmental guidelines.
• Record temperatures of all meals and kitchen equipment and wear a hair net, gloves and apron during meal and snack preparations.
• Update information on diet card and diet lists when information changes or as needed as directed by RD.
• Prepare and serve morning and afternoon snacks according to snack menu, portion control, diet orders, and time constraints.
• Serve the morning and/or noon meal at a proper temperature with references to diet, supplements, adaptive equipment needs and portion control.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and kitchen equipment by performing the weekly and daily cleaning according to schedule.
• Clean, organize, and sanitize food service equipment and areas to meet regulations.
• Maintain the inventory and restock supplies on a regular basis. Monitor related expiration dates.
• Assist the RD with ordering, tracking and delivering meals, snacks, supplies and supplements.
• Communicate with the Clinical Leader, Speech Therapist and RD regarding nutritional issues or concerns.
• Understand and adhere to PHH policies and procedures and PHH's Participant Rights Policy.
• Protect privacy and maintain confidentiality of sensitive Participant and agency information.
• Attend staff and Participant care planning meetings as requested, and department and PHH in-services as required.
• Report any variance, accident, or unusual occurrence to the appropriate personnel.
• Additional work functions and duties may be assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must have ServSafe certification or be able to obtain certification within 90 days of employment
• Have 1 year of experience working with a frail or elderly population or be willing to receive appropriate training upon hire
• BLS certified or willing to complete necessary certification
• Require personal and reliable transportation

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
• Requires the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Will require 20% sitting, 30% walking, and 50% standing
• May also need to move heavy equipment and/or supplies

The pay rate for this position is $19.50/hour.
