Job summary

Position PurposeThe primary purpose of this position is to prepare and serve meals to meet residents’ nutritional needs; to assist residents with meal set-up; and to properly sanitize after meal service.Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesPolicies and ProceduresMaintain confidentiality of residents and potential residents, resident family members, coworkers, and Immanuel Living.Understand and support the philosophy, policies, and standards of Immanuel Living and the Nutrition Services Department.Maintain quality of resident care, including compliance with Facility and Nutrition Services.Department policies and procedures, and State and Federal guidelines.Follow facility and department policies and procedures.Position DutiesPossess a high degree of personal cleanliness and hygiene.Assist in serving of meals and loading of food carts.Assist in preparation of various desserts, salads, peeling vegetables, etc.Assist in washing dishes, pots and pans, while following good cleaning procedures.Assist in dining area set-up and tray assembly.Assist residents with meal set-up, including buttering bread, cutting meat, etc.Perform cleaning duties in kitchen and dining rooms, on equipment, dishwashing area, etc.Deliver food and snack carts to various areas within the building.Assist with food and supply receiving and storage, as assigned.Obtain food and supplies from storeroom, as needed.Able and willing to work all positions with department, excluding cook and management.Perform other duties as assigned.Documentation and CommunicationCommunicate with supervisor and participate in training and/or meetings that help facilitate departmental communication process.Communicate with others in a considerate manner.Other Duties & ResponsibilitiesFunction effectively as a team member.Maintain understanding, patience, and tact in dealing with residents, resident families, and coworkers.Maintain good working relationships with other staff.Ensure maintenance of a safe living and working environment for residents and staff.Maintain regular work attendance and follow established work schedule but maintain flexibility. Days and hours of shifts are rotated accordingly; weekends may rotate as needed.Attend and participate in in-service educational classes, on-the-job training programs, etc., as scheduled or required.
