Job summary

Carillon Senior Living in Lubbock, TX is seeking a Dietary Aide to prepare and serve therapeutic diet trays for health center residents. The role operates under a bi-weekly rotation with set weekday blocks and a 6:00 am–7:00 pm schedule, including a mid-day lunch break.

Ideal candidates will have one year of dietary aide experience in a restaurant or senior living setting, strong communication, and the ability to stay active on their feet.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Minimum of one year restaurant/senior living or equivalent Dietary Aide experience.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to stand and walk for the full shift, lift up to 30 lbs, and push/pull carts up to 150 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve therapeutic diet trays in accordance with diet orders.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization at all times.
• Assist with serving meals and ware washing as needed.
• Transport foods and non-food items to the health center.
• Document food temperatures and ensure safety standards.

Who you are:

• Has effective communication skills, both oral and written
• High school diploma/GED preferred
• Minimum of one year restaurant/senior living or equivalent Dietary Aide experience
• Able to see, hear, and communicate clearly
• Able to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisor and peers
• Has empathy for the elderly
• Able to plan and organize work, set up trays and plates in accordance with diet orders and interpret specifications and standards
• Able to stand/walk for 100% of the workday
• Able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. independently
• Able to push and pull tray/bus/transport carts weighing up to 150 lbs. independently
• Able to bend, stoop, reach, and balance frequently throughout the workday
• May be exposed to extreme temperatures from the ovens and freezers
• May be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals
  

Summary:

The Dietary Aideis responsible for preparing and serving therapeutic diet trays to health center residents in accordance with posted therapeutic diet menus.

Job Expectations:

• Responsible for adhering to food quality, appearance and presentation standards at all times
• Produce and serve menu cycle programs that are compliant with required Nutritional/Dietary criteria as required by local regulations and correctly prepare diets provided per Policy and Procedure
• Exhibit cooking standards of speed, accuracy, and efficiency
• Demonstrate knowledge in all areas of cooking preparation and production
• Assist with serving of meals and ware washing as necessary
• Represent the community in a warm and inviting manner, which creates a positive marketing environment
• Supports creating a culture where the business decisions made in this position, along with individual employee engagement, drive top-line revenue and occupancy
• Prepares therapeutic desserts and salads as required
• Serves meals in the health center
• Sets up kitchenette(s) in the health center dining room and breaks down same after meal
• Transports hot and cold foods to and from the health center
• Transports all required non-food items to and from the health center
• Documents food temperatures on a regular basis; adjusting temperatures if necessary
• Maintains assigned workstation in a safe and sanitary condition.
• Accomplishes all work in the order of priority set by supervisor
• Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned
• Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
