Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Some experience helpful; on-the-job training will be provided.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the dietary department and cook as needed.
• Helping with meal preparation in accordance to the dietary needs of the residents.
• Assisting in serving meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
• Timely setting up of meal service and delivery of meal trays and food carts.
• Following the established portion controls recommended.
• Adhering to sanitation and food safety guidelines during meal preparation and cleanup.
• Keeping work tables clean, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.
• Sweeping and mopping floors.
• Maintaining food service equipment.
• Cleaning, washing, and sanitizing silverware and utensils.
• Disposing of food and waste per facility regulations.
• Obtaining food supplies for the next meal.
• Stocking food in storage areas and refrigerators with the correct dates and labels.

POSITION SUMMARY

The purpose of your job position is to provide assistance in all food functions in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards that govern the facility and as directed by Dietary or other management.

The Dietary Aide and Dishwasher will treat each resident with kindness, dignity and respect. They will refer to each resident by their name. They will communicate clearly, empathetically, and effectively when speaking to residents, family members, visitors, all staff and governmental agencies. They will work cooperatively with all departments and multidisciplinary teams. They will be committed to always doing the right thing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assisting the dietary department and cook as needed

• Helping with meal preparation in accordance to the dietary needs of the residents

• Assisting in serving meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance

• Timely setting up of meal service and delivery of meal trays and food carts

• Following the established portion controls recommended

• Adhering to sanitation and food safety guidelines during meal preparation and clean up

• Keeping work tables clean, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.

• Sweeping and mopping floors

• Returning clean dishes and utensils to the proper storage areas

• Carrying out garbage

• Following safety regulations and precautions at all times

• Reporting any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, or other hazardous materials to a supervisor immediately

• Adhering to all facility policies and procedures of the facility

• Maintaining confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information

REQUIREMENTS

Education / Licensure
