Job summary

Charleston Area Medical Center is seeking a Food Service Assistant to assist in preparing and serving meals to patients, staff, and visitors. You will apply portion control and maintain a safe, sanitary kitchen environment.

The role requires completing basic education, obtaining a Food Handlers Card within 30 days of hire, and participating in ongoing training. Schedule varies; full-time position based at General Hospital WV.

Qualifications

• No HS diploma or GED required; eighth grade education and ability to read/write.

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.
