Job summary

Pillar of Cedar Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation in Waterloo is seeking a friendly food service aide to assist in meal preparation, tray assembly, and serving residents with attention to dietary guidelines.

Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, proper sanitation, storing items correctly, reporting equipment issues, and collaborating with team members. Qualifications include a High School diploma and ServSafe Certification. 1st shift 5:00am-2:00pm, EOW required.

• Assist in the preparation of meals and beverages.
• Prepare trays according to diet cards and meet scheduled meal and snack times.
• Serve meals to residents and guests.
• Bag and store food items properly.
• Bus and clean tables after meals.
• Dispose of waste using proper sanitation procedures.
• Keep work area clean and free of hazards.
• Store equipment, tools, and supplies properly.
• Report equipment malfunctions and supply needs to supervisor.
• Communicate effectively with guests, families, peers, and supervisors.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Job Description

• Assist in the preparation of meals and beverages
• Participate in the food tray line and prepare trays according to diet cards in an efficient manner to meet scheduled meal and snack times
• Assist with loading food carts and serving meals to residents and guests
• Bag and store food items as directed
• Bus and clean tables after meal time throughout the facility
• Discard waste/trash into proper containers in accordance with established sanitation procedures and guidelines
• Assure that work area is clean and free of hazardous conditions such as spills, excess carts, etc.
• Assure that equipment, tools and supplies are properly stored at all times
• Report all equipment malfunctions and breakdowns to the supervisor and keep the supervisor informed of supply needs
• Communicate and interact effectively and tactfully with guests, families, peers and supervisors
• Other tasks as needed and required
