Job summary

Covenant Place of Sumter is seeking a friendly Dietary Aide to join our culinary team and support residents with nutritious, high-quality meals.

You will assist with meal service, maintain kitchen cleanliness, follow food safety practices, and collaborate with the dietary team to ensure a positive dining experience for seniors.

Experience is welcome but not required; we value compassion, reliability, and teamwork in a caring retirement community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior food service experience preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to follow directions and work efficiently as part of a team.
• Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Meal assistance: Help prepare, portion, and serve meals to residents according to dietary plans and special requests.
• Sanitation & cleanliness: Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas; wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed.
• Resident support: Provide meal assistance to residents as needed, including helping with meal setup and serving, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
• Food safety: Follow all food safety protocols, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices, to ensure food is safe for consumption.
• Inventory support: Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, checking inventory, and notifying the Dietary Manager of any shortages or supply needs.
• Team collaboration: Work closely with the dietary team to ensure the kitchen and dining areas run smoothly, assisting with food prep and meal service as directed.
• Resident engagement: Assist in fulfilling special dietary requests and ensuring residents’ individual preferences and needs are met during meal times.
